The Twitter Salesman, How People Can Make Real Money From Twitter

Check this post The Twitter Salesman, How People Can Make Real Money From Twitter from Freestyle Mind:

Twitter is quickly becoming one of the most used social media tools by people of all ages. When I first started using it some years ago, not many people had an account, but now it seems like everyone is on it.

This means two things. The first is that the information industry is going to change dramatically in the next couple of years, as information is now shared in real time by people on twitter. The other one is that the advertising market has a new opportunity, which is very huge.

A few weeks ago I heard about a guy who wrote a script that would automatically send book suggestions to people by using the search functionality and twitter mentions. This process was completely automatic and he made a few hundreds dollars until he got banned by twitter.

I know for a fact that there are many programs like that, and they works. The problem is, they suck from an user perspective, and you’ll eventually get banned.

Real time user interaction

In case that you don’t already know, twitter offers a search functionality that allows you to see what people are talking about in real time. For example, if you try to search for neck pain, you’ll see many complaints about neck pain in real time by real users.

This search functionality is similar to the one of other websites, except that you can also interact in real time with people by sending them a mention. Imagine that you’re selling the cure for neck pain, and you have the opportunity to see and interact with people who have that problem in real time. I’m talking about millions of people actually.

How you can make money from Twitter

So what if you’re not selling any cure for neck pain, can you still make a buck from twitter? Of course you can. By the way, you can use this technique even if you’re not selling anything, for example I use it to promote my blog and to help people in genuine ways.

So you don’t have anything to sell but you wouldn’t mind a few extra money each month. Here’s what you can do: make a list of the things that you love and head over to or similar websites and find some products related to your passions.

Clickbank is a platform that allows publishers to sell their products without having to worry about the technical stuff. They handle the selling part and they also manage affiliates. That means that you can signup as an affiliate and earn a commission if you sell something for someone else. These commissions are very high, usually between 50% to 75% of the total sale. Publishers can easily afford that because their product is digital and they have generally no expenses. It’s a big market and people are making millions.

Let’s do some math here. Let’s say that you find a product that you actually think is genuine and that can help people for real. This product sells at $30 and you get a 75% commission for every sale, which is around $22.50. If you find a way to sell three copies a day of that product, you would be making around $67.50 per day, which multiplied for 30 which is the number of days in a month, is around $2025. For just a single product.

Do you see why I’m excited? Of course the art and the work to do here is to find people who would be interested in that product, and then convince them to buy. As you may have already figured out, you can use the twitter search functionality for finding those people, and then it’s up to you to convince them to buy. If you act in a honest and genuine way (not like a robot), my guess is that you can reach a conversion rate of 10% or more by simply interacting with them in a genuine way.

Warning: twitter may ban you for doing this. Act like a human and don’t use your main account at first. If you try to game people into buying your products, you’re not doing any good to our society, so only recommend stuff that can really benefit others. People should thank you for your recommendation.

Note: I’ll be making a video showing how to use this technique for real. if you’re interested, leave a comment below or send me an email at oscar [at] and I’ll get back to you once it’s ready.

What do you think? Are you already doing this? Think it’s un ethical? I’d love to get your opinion in the comments below.
